Thank you to our amazing Teaching Landscape donors!

Thanks to the support of so many generous donors and the partnership of the City of Toronto, together we have built a multi-activity greenspace for all ages and abilities.

Today, we were honoured to welcome a number of those generous supporters for a tour and lunch at the incredible Aptus Teaching Landscape. It was an opportunity for them to see the impact that their generosity is already having on the people we support and the community at large. We look forward to our Charity Golf Tournament in September, as it will enable us to complete the accessible pathways, log forest nature playground, signage and other construction elements.

To date, the Aptus Teaching Landscape has hosted:
- 12 community events
-Weekly community planting or learning on Saturdays
-Vocational training for adults with developmental disabilities
- 3 summer camps running part of their programming on site, including one run by Humber River Hospital
-And over the school year, there is environmental learning for children and youth

Councillor Augimeri and the local community group, the Friends of Mossie Park and Friends of Aptus all help to get the word out to the community and we have had great participation so far. The feedback from the community has been very positive.

Starting in the fall, we will be tailoring our programs to meet the needs of the community. Some of the programs will include:
-Drop in programs for youth where they can earn their volunteer hours and gain vocational skills while working alongside individuals with disabilities
-Special drop in programs for seniors, due to the significantly higher percentage of seniors over 70 in the Downsview community

The interaction with nature benefits everyone. We are so grateful for the support of our generous donors and community members that have helped make this dream a reality. Stay tuned for details about our public grand opening celebration in the fall.
