Employment Training & Support
Employment Programming for Youth and Adults through MCCSS
Aptus continues to offer its successful Employment Now supports for youth and adults seeking employment. This programming is offered in partnership with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS). Key employment partners include Pizza Nova and Fresh City Farms. Aptus staff offer adapted versions of leading job readiness programs developed by EARN Ontario and Community Living. Staff also act as job coaches, offering on the job support to enhance job retention and success. Aptus thanks the Ontario Disability Employment Network for its support in strategic planning for this successful program.
Youth Programming through United Way Partnership
Aptus is proud to be in its second year of partnership with the United Way of Greater Toronto, York & Peel. Aptus successfully launched a school-based curriculum and job supports to increase job readiness and employment for youth in Toronto and York region.
Home Service Professional for Youth with Learning or Communication Challenges
As part of United Way's Career Navigator program, Aptus is offering a free 1-year test project for interested youth (ages 17 to 29) seeking employment. Many youth face barriers to employment.
In this project, a Youth Supervisor will support youth in accessing:
• Soft skills training (useful for all jobs)
• Cleaning skills training
• Part-time to Full-time employment (based on youth interest and ability)
The Youth Supervisor will support youth in staying employed and learning about other support they may need:
• Financial support
• Mental health counseling
Aptus has partnered with Custom Maids (offer jobs near downtown Toronto) and Molly Maid North Toronto (offer jobs in North Toronto), who will consider youth in this initiative for their open positions. To learn more, review the infosheet and application. Contact Donald Guse Salah with questions or to submit your application (firstname.lastname@example.org).
